The Borough of Somerset, Pennsylvania is centrally located within Somerset County about 70 miles (113 km) southeast of Pittsburgh. It is characterized by antique shopping, covered bridge sighting, wine tasting and vineyard tours making a visit any day of the week feel like a leisurely Sunday afternoon. Each summer the streets come alive with an annual Antique Show, and enough festivals to make any town twice its size blush.
The Uptown Somerset Historical District features several examples of prominent mid-19th to early 20th-century architectural styles, the County Courthouse being the crowing jewel. Standing stately for over a century, the historic building exhibits exemplary architecture and craftmanship. The Somerset Historical Center is situated on 150 rural acres (61 ha) and offers a taste of colonial American history through interactive outdoor exhibits, guided tours and annual events. A short drive from town, the Quecreek Mine Rescue Site and the Flight 93 Memorial are sites dedicated to the memory of two of America's unforgettable human triumphs and tragedies.
