Each year more than two-dozen performances of all varieties grace the stage at Penn University's Center for the Performing Arts. Two auditoriums host various dance shows, Broadway musicals, family entertainment and plays throughout the year. Both the Eisenhower and the Schwab auditoriums are located on the Penn State Campus.

Rockwood's old lumber and feed mill, more than a century old, has been restored and now houses a variety of shops and services, including the town's historic opera house. The Opera House hosts a variety of musical entertainment on weekend evenings March through December or can be rented for special events.

Opened in 1921, the historic Arcadia Theater now operates as a non-profit performing arts center and showcases a range of musicals and musical tributes every month as well as a special series for children. In addition to enjoying the performances, theater-goers can enjoy the grand features of the Arcadia, painstakingly restored to its original splendor in the 20s.

The Mishler Theatre was constructed in 1906 at a cost of $115,000 under the direction of the theatre architect Albert E. Westover. Today, the theatre is host to various performing arts groups and productions, including performances by the Altoona Community Theatre group and the Altoona Symphony Orchestra.
