    Beaver Stadium is home to Penn State's Nittany Lions and boasts more than 100,000 seats, making it one of the largest stadiums in the United States. Roots of this football team and playing field date back to 1893 when the first game was played on a 500-seat football field, Beaver Field. It was named after a prominent local citizen, James Beaver, who was a brigadier general in the Civil War.
