This memorial site honors the passengers and crew of Flight 93, who thwarted the the attack on the U.S. Capitol on September 11, 2001. The historic day forever changed the crash site, a Pennsylvania field, and today peacefully welcomes thousands year-round, seven days a week.
The Flight 93 Memorial Chapel in Shanksville was established to remember the passengers who died in the plane crash near Johnstown on September 11, 2001. The church itself was built in 1902 and was transformed into a memorial in 2002. A rock garden is found on the grounds for visitors to place decorated stones. Weddings, memorial services and other ceremonies can be held in the chapel, which is open to the pubic from 10am to 3pm, Friday through Monday.
