Located east of the Pittsburgh area, the Allegheny Mountains provide visitors and residents with a wealth of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking camping and more. The town of Altoona features Lakemont Park, an amusement center with rides, go-carts and food concessions . Historical landmarks, museums and cultural centers are also well represented in the Alleghenies, with attractions such as Altoona's Railroaders Memorial Museum. True to its name, nearby State College is home to Pennsylvania State University and also boasts the Cool Cruise Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show every year in the downtown area. Penn State brings a variety of sporting events to State College, including basketball tournaments and swim meets.
